Halevi

Matan is the Organizations Manager.

He has worked in the field of employment promotion for underprivileged populations for more than 13 years. Matan was one of the founders of the Retelling Story book project. He set up and managed a national employment promotion system for people with disabilities and developed a project to direct employment for academics with disabilities.

Matan has a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy from Ben-Gurion University, a master's degree in law from Bar-Ilan University, and is completing another master’s degree this year in the Schwartz program -- managing nonprofits and community organizations. In addition, he has certificates in employment promotion from Kiryat Ono College of the Welfare Ministry.

He says, “Over the years, I have come to realize that the cycle of poverty operates with the same inertia as the cycle of crime. For many who work at low-paying jobs, there is no need for education nor is there the opportunity to advance.
But I believe that people should be given the stick and not just the carrot. Despite the strong desire to break the cycle, there are barriers that cannot be broken without outside help.
My way of trying to break through is to give people the tools to improve their employment status, thus raising their standard and quality of life.
Comeback is an innovative platform in the Israeli landscape, and I am happy that I can be part of the change for this population.”
